Bydd y prosiect yn casglu hanesion llafar (25) a storïau digidol (25) am brofiadau defnyddwyr gwasanaeth Bawso o ddod i Gymru o dan amrywiaeth o amgylchiadau a sut maent yn ceisio ymsefydlu. Mae Bawso yn darparu cymorth arbenigol i oroeswyr sydd wedi profi mathau penodol o gam-drin domestig a thrais; gan gynnwys anffurfio organau cenhedlu benywod, priodas dan orfod, trais ar sail anrhydedd yn ogystal â chaethwasiaeth fodern a masnachu pobl. Mae’r erchyllterau hyn yn digwydd yng Nghymru, ac mae’r prosiect hwn yn ceisio mwyhau’r lleisiau a’r profiadau sydd wedi’u hymyleiddio’n ddifrifol a heb gynrychiolaeth ddigonol fel rhan o dreftadaeth Cymru. Mae'r prosiect hwn hefyd yn parhau i ddatblygu perthynas gydweithredol hirdymor rhwng Bawso a Phrifysgol De Cymru.
Bydd gweithgareddau’r prosiect yn cael eu cyflwyno drwy ymweliadau ag amgueddfeydd a gweithdai mewn pum safle (Sain Ffagan, Amgueddfa Genedlaethol y Glannau, Amgueddfa Wlân, Pwll Mawr, Amgueddfa Lechi) a bydd cyfweliadau hanes ar lafar yn cael eu cynnal yn swyddfeydd Bawso. Mae gweithio ar draws nifer o safleoedd ac ardaloedd yng Nghymru yn golygu y byddwn yn gallu casglu amrywiaeth o storïau a chydnabod nid yn unig ehangder treftadaeth Cymru ond hefyd cyrhaeddiad effaith Bawso yng Nghymru a’r cysylltiadau rhwng y ddau.
Nodau lles a threftadaeth allweddol y prosiect yw:
1) Cyd-fynd â Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol Cymru (2015) a hybu cydlyniant cymdeithasol wrth gyfrannu at ddiwylliant Cymru a gwaith yr Amgueddfa.
2) Casglu hanesion llafar defnyddwyr gwasanaeth Bawso ar gyfer yr archif er mwyn cynrychioli amrywiaeth Cymru yn well a pharhau i ddeall profiadau'r rhai sydd wedi dod i Gymru. Rydym yn cydnabod bod amrywiaeth o hunaniaethau a phrofiadau bywyd menywod (menywod o wahanol ethnigrwydd, rhywioldeb, dosbarth cymdeithasol, oedran a gallu) yn aml yn cael eu gwthio i’r cyrion neu eu hepgor o’r adroddiadau ehangach ar hanes ffeministaidd. Mae casglu'r profiadau croestoriadol hyn yn flaenoriaeth i'r prosiect.
3) Canmol storïau gydag adnoddau cadarn ar gyfer addysgwyr mewn addysg ffurfiol ac anffurfiol i annog ymgysylltu parhaus â'r storïau a dysgu oddi wrthynt ar bob lefel.
4) Coladu storïau ar gyfer yr archif a’r digwyddiad terfynol ac arddangosfa yn Amgueddfa Cymru.

The Bawso BME Oral Stories project is an innovative partnership project between USW’s Geroge Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling, specialist domestic abuse organisation Bawso and National Museum Wales. Transforming the ways in which Welsh heritage is understood, preserved and represented, survivors of violence who have been supported by Bawso will share their stories and have them archived by the Museum.

The project will gather oral histories (25) and digital stories (25) about Bawso service users’ experiences of coming to Wales under a range of circumstances and how it has been to try and make a home. Bawso provides specialist support to survivors of targeted forms of domestic abuse and violence such as FGM, forced marriage and honour-based abuse in addition to modern slavery and trafficking. These atrocities are happening in Wales, and this project seeks to amplify acutely marginalised and under-represented voices and experiences as a part of Welsh heritage. This project also continues the development of a long-term collaborative relationship between Bawso and USW.
The project activities will be delivered through museum visits and workshops at five sites (St Fagans, Waterfront, Wool Museum, Big Pit, Slate Musuem) and oral history interviews will take place in Bawso offices. Working across multiple sites and areas in Wales means that we will be able to capture a range of stories and acknowledge not only the breadth of Welsh heritage but also the reach of Bawso’s impact in Wales and the connections between the two.
The key wellbeing and heritage aims of the project are:
1) Aligning with the Well-Being and Future Generations Act Wales (2015) and promoting social cohesion while contributing to Welsh culture and the work of the Museum.
2) Capturing for the archive the oral histories of Bawso service users to better represent the diversity of Wales and continue to understand the experiences of those who have come to Wales. We acknowledge that the diversity of women’s identities and life experiences (women of different ethnicities, sexualities, social class, ages, and abilities) are often marginalised or omitted from the wider reporting of feminist history. Capturing these intersectional experiences is a priority of the project.
3) Complimenting stories with enduring resources for educators in formal and informal education to encourage ongoing engagement with and learning from the stories at all levels.
4) Collating stories for the archive and a final event and exhibition at Amgueddfa Cymru.
